CCAD Media Studies Dean Ron Saks wanted to center his faculty around new curriculum ideas that would be more aligned with professional practices in media/entertainment.
Working with Columbus, OH management consultant Linda Reese of Leader Onboarding, John created a survey to poll the faculty on the current media studies curriculum, the program’s Mission Statement, and suggested ideas for future innovations and changes.
Based on the results of the survey, John facilitated a 5-session, 2-day version of his Team-Building Workshop to process these issues, and to build consensus on a working action plan for the media studies program.
The results were both affirming and… unexpected.
Initial concerns about a lack of faculty cohesion proved unfounded.
The receptive, inclusive and open-ended “bottom up” nature of the seminar encouraged participants to discover, refine and collaborate on the future of the program, empowering them to contribute ideas and make commitments that resonated with who they were as media artists, and that reflected their core skill sets.
